How I can help you

Trust fundraising doesn’t have to be complicated. But it’s so easy to get stuck – never getting feedback on your rejected applications, struggling to get the right information from colleagues and not having enough time to look for new prospects and research them in detail.

I want to tell you that good trust fundraising can be straight-forward. It’s about crafting the right ask, to send to the right funder, at the right time. It’s about telling (and showing) funders how you can help them to make a difference.

Here are some of the key things I can support you with:

  • training for junior fundraisers to help write trust applications

  • STREAMLINING YOUR SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES SO THAT YOU’RE REALLY CLEAR WHAT YOU’RE WORKING TOWARDS AND HOW YOU’LL GET THERE

  • REVIEWING YOUR TRUST FUNDRAISING PROGRAMME AND IDENTIFYING OPPORTUNITIEs for growth

  • INTERIM SUPPORT WHEN YOU NEED AN EXTRA PAIR OF HANDS OR A SHORT BURST OF APPLICATION WRITING

  • SHARING MY 20+ YEARS OF EXPERTISE BY REVIEWING YOUR APPLICATIONS

  • WRITING YOUR CASE FOR SUPPORT SO YOU’RE REALLY CLEAR ON WHAT YOU’RE RAISING MONEY FOR AND WHY

“We’ve worked with Alicia for over six months and she’s been an invaluable resource to our Trust Fundraising programme at Princess Alice Hospice. She has undertaken a review of our Trust file, identified key prospects and progressed these to submitted applications. As a result of her input, we have secured over £80,000 in income with several outcomes still pending. Alicia has also built-up cases for need in several areas of work, working with colleagues across the Hospice to gather information and create bids. She is an excellent bid writer and a pleasure to work with.”

- MICHELLE GULLIVER, PRINCESS ALICE HOSPICE

I’m for you if…

Just like the variety of charities that exist in the sector, there is also a huge variety of freelancers all with different expertise, and I won’t be the right choice for everyone. I primarily work with charities in the health and wellbeing sector including:

  • health charities

  • hospices

  • older people’s charities

  • children and youth charities.

Not sure if we’re a good match? Fill out this short enquiry form and I’ll be in touch to find out more about what support you’re looking for.

 How I can help you

There are three main ways I work with clients - if you’re unsure which is for you, get in touch and we can have a chat.

 START-UP

If you’re new to trust fundraising, it can be overwhelming knowing where to start. If you want some expert support to help you get set-up, we’ll spend eight weeks working together with weekly zoom calls.

  1. I’ll draft your case for support - the most important step in knowing how to position your work to potential funders.

  2. I’ll help you to get your fundraising ‘toolkit’ set up so you’ve got all the key documents you need to be able to submit applications e.g. budgets and policies.

  3. I’ll research some initial prospects and get your pipeline set up so you know exactly who you’re going to apply for, how much and when.

  4. I’ll draft your first application so you can see how to effectively tell the story about your charity and your work, giving you a template to use for future applications.

  5. You’ll get unlimited support via email during our work together plus access to any of my resources and templates that I think you’ll benefit from.

Investment is £1950 with payment plans available.

AUDIT AND REVIEW

If you’re already fundraising from trusts and foundations but struggling to raise as much as you need, I can help you take a step back to review where you currently are and what you want to achieve:

  • I’ll review and analyse your pipeline to see if you’re missing opportunities and how you’re performing against other similar charities.

  • I’ll also review an application to see if you’re giving funders what they need and give you recommendations to strengthen your writing.

  • Written strategy and recommendations to grow your trust programme.

Investment is £650 with payment plans available

 1:1 BID-WRITING

If you’re a small charity, you might not have the resources, or need to have a permanent trust fundraiser, but you want the expertise of a successful professional. I can provide part-time bid-writing support so that you know you’re making progress with your trust fundraising.

Or you might have an established programme but need interim support, an extra ‘pair of hands’, to make some progress on your pipeline of applications.

12 weeks’ support

Applications drafted to a minimum value of £100,000.

18 weeks’ support

Applications drafted to a minimum value of £150,000.

24 weeks' support

Applications drafted to a minimum value of £200,000.

Investment from £5,000 with payment plans available.

“We’ve raised over £1million to support our work”

Alicia has been supporting us at Age UK Sutton, with bid writing and fundraising capacity building, since 2020. As a result of Alicia’s support, we’ve raised over £1m to support our work in the London Borough of Sutton, developed our fundraising strategy, and built capacity in our small charity to plan and manage grant funded programmes.  Alicia has a strong understanding of the impact of smaller charities and how we can demonstrate that to funders, and also valuable insight into the joys – and challenges – of being a small organisation where fundraising is critical, but not a distinct staff function.

Because of the funds Alicia has helped us to raise, Age UK Sutton has supported thousands of people through the Covid pandemic crisis, and we’ve more helped older people that ever before  to manage major life events like financial worries, bereavement, housing problems and loneliness.  Put simply, because of Alicia’s support, older people in Sutton who are facing major struggles, have better lives.  What I especially appreciate is that I think Alicia cares as much about this as we do.

-NICOLA UPTON, CEO AGE UK SUTTON
